Partner Luiz Dutra speaks about infrastructure law in China

Partner Luiz Filipe Couto Dutra was invited by Beijing Zhongchang Engineering Consultants Co. Ltd. to speak to its Board members about the Brazilian infrastructure legal system at the company’s headquarter in Beijing, China.

 Mr. Dutra spoke about public tenders and the legal framework for building and operating ports in Brazil.

Alongside with Mr. Dutra was a delegation of the municipality of São Sebastião, in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Partner Luiz Dutra invited to event by Chinese Government

After taking office as Legal Manager at the Young Enterpreneurs Association of Federal District, (AJE/DF), partner Luiz Filipe Dutra was sent to China in an official mission, invited by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, to participate in a commercial culture seminar.

The Brazilian delegation has officials from the Brazilian government, as well as executives of Chinese companies with operations in Brazil.

The event will be held in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hangzhou, from march 9 to 23, 2018.

Ivo Gico Lectures about Compliance Program in Austria

Students in the 2015-2017 Master in Anti-Corruption Studies (MACS) programme finished the in-class part of their current module on Anti-Corruption, Compliance and the Private Sector last week.

Over two weeks at IACA’s Laxenburg campus, the class discussed the challenges of doing business in corrupt environments, the informal economy, effective compliance programmes, corporate social responsibility, internal investigations, and collective action. The schedule included a study visit to the Vienna International Centre for the eighth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC). Paper by Ivo Gico used by Brazilian Supreme Court

The Brazilian Supreme Court quoted partner Ivo Gico’s paper (Princípio da eficiência e o software livre) on case (ADI n. 3.059-RS) that challenged, on constitutional grounds, a State law that forced the State’s public administration to use free and open source software.

Paper by Ivo Gico used in Public Prosecutors’ decision

Brazilian Federal Public Prosecutors’ Office (Ministério Público Federal) used Ivo Gico’s Law and Economics paper (Metodologia e Epistemologia da Análise Econômica do Direito) on decision regarding SBM Offshore leniency application. SBM Offshore’s leniency application is connected to alleged corruption in Petrobras’ contracts.
